The Duke of York, proudly standing as Lichfield's oldest pub for over four centuries, needed a fresh breath of life. Paul and Wendy Weston, the proprietors, contacted us, seeking an economical yet transformative solution for their kitchen's timely renovation.
Objective
The primary goal was to modernise the kitchen without compromising the pub's rich heritage. Given the age of the building, we were met with the complex challenge of working around a structure devoid of straight walls and limited service outlets.
Implementation
1. Appliance Selection:
- Recognising the need for quality and affordability, we introduced a blend of Lincat and Ecomax appliances, ensuring performance meets heritage.
2. Extraction System:
- Addressing the limited space and the building's historic nature, we opted for Lincat's self-contained fume filtration system. This innovative solution negated the need for any external ductwork, preserving the pub's ancient aesthetics.
Outcome
Through careful planning and sensitivity for the Duke of York's past, we successfully merged the old with the new. The result? A rejuvenated, efficient kitchen seamlessly embedded within a 400-year-old historic building.
